We have added some prospective members to our roster. Dale Smith, who previously was a member of our department, lives in Hambden and works part time for our township road department. Dale comes to us as a trained firefighter, fire instructor and fire inspector. Doug Reidel is from Munson Township and is also a fire instructor and fire inspector. Courtney Root recently graduated from Auburn Career Center Fire Fighter level II 240 hour class. Graham Richardson is from the Burton Fire Department. Graham will be attending school this fall. We welcome these new prospective members to our Hambden Fire Department.
Our Hambden Fire Department Explorers group held a car wash at the fire station in May. Thank you to everyone who supported them. The Explorers are a group of young people who are thinking about a future in the fire service. They are between 14 and 18 years old and work with our firefighters. They have their own meeting night on Thursday and learn what it is like to become a firefighter. If you know anyone interested, please contact one of the advisors: Lt. Tim Tobin or Firefighter Dannielle LaMadeline at the fire station.
We are looking forward to a great summer. Our Fire Department family picnic will be in July. Look for us at the Bondstown Bash in August and at our two Clam Bakes this fall. The Clam Bakes are the third Saturday in September and October. We are hoping to take delivery of our new tanker in October. Remember if you need a smoke detector, call the fire station at 285-3329.
