I enjoyed speaking with Robert, a former captain on your department that retired 3 or 4 years ago. He was very pleasant to speak with, and he gave me a lot of advice and insight on many things since I am the wife of a fireman in Kansas City, MO (KCFD). God bless you all at the Hambden Fire Department, and always be safe!

I was told by my Chief today to take a look at a Youtube Clip about Tender operations. First off, I would like to say that, that explorer did an amazing job and to keep an eye out for her in the future. She truly will be a great asset to your fire department. Secondly, your department must be well trained to be able to keep up with continuing education needed to teach eager Explorers. I work as a Career Firefighter in Illinois in the suburbs of Chicago and I must say that we at our Fire Department are extremely impressed with the shuttling operation. I will be taking notes and contacting you when we have to spec out our new Tender. Keep up the great work.

This is one of the best sites I've ever seen! Very complete, innovative; it has everything a community could ever want or need! A very professional reflection of your fire district!
I lived in Hambden from 1979-1981, and my Dad, Bruce, was a volunteer then. I remember watching everyone responding to the station, then seeing the engines go screaming off to the fire. I remember when the chief's house got hit by lightening, then burned down a few months later. I was one of the kids at the grade school who made carmel apples to buy him a new class A uniform.
As volunteer firefighters, we don't hear it enough, so thank you all for your service and dedication to the people of the community. We have the power to take someone's worst day of their life and make it a little better.
