Structure Fire with Fatalaties

At 0224 hrs this morning, Hambden Fire Department along with automatic mutual aid from The Chardon Fire Department, Montville Fire Rescue, Leroy Twp. Fire Department, Munson Fire Department and Middlefield Fire Department were dispatched to a reported residential fire with occupants trapped on Taylor Wells Rd. MABAS Box 3611 was immediately activated requesting additional resources from Concord Twp Fire Department, Windsor Fire Department, Burton Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Joint Fire District, Thompson Fire Department, and Madison Fire District.

Deputies from Geauga County Sheriff's Office Sheriff Scott A. Hildenbrand arrived shortly after and attempted to make entry but encountered significant smoke and fire conditions.

Hambden and Chardon Fire crews arrived on scene at 0231 hrs and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence. Crews immediately entered the home to search for victims. Two victims were located and transported to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center where they succumbed to their injuries.

A 2nd alarm was requested bringing additional resources from Hartsgrove Twp Fire Department, Chester Township Fire Rescue, Kirtland Fire Department, Lake County, Ohio, Painesville City Fire Department and Rome Fire Department, Ashtabula County Ohio

The fire is being investigated by the Geauga County Fire investigation Unit and the Ohio State Fire Marshall’s Office.
