Kitchen fire burns Thompson Township home
Saturday, September 6th, 2014
No human occupants were at home when the fire started in the first floor kitchen at a house in the 6900 block of Sidley Road in Thompson Township. Thompson Fire Chief Danny Robison said seven cats and one bird were inside the residence but, as of 8 p.m. on Sept. 6, they had not been located. “I can’t tell you the cause. It started in the kitchen and traveled up,” Robison said. “No humans were inside.” Crews from Thompson, Montville, Madison, Leroy, Hambden and Trumbull Township responded to the scene. “They did one hell of a stop. This thing could’ve been burnt to the ground,” Robison said. “Fire control damage is always bad, meaning we have to knock windows out and stuff like that. But the crews did a great stop.” The fire was initially called in at 7:03 p.m. with reports of heavy smoke coming from windows upstairs. A barn, with a horse inside, also on the property was not impacted. Article appeared in The News- Herald 9/6/14 Robison said the cause of the fire is still under investigation and did not have a damage estimate on the scene.
