July 27 was a busy day for area fire departments and donations are being accepted for the victims of the fires at 5876 Suwanee Drive in Mentor-on-the-Lake and 16351 Hart Road in Montville Township.
No humans were injured in either fire, but a bunny died in the Mentor-on-the-Lake house fire.
The family in Mentor-on-the-Lake was renting the home and did not have insurance. The family has five members and a dog. Mentor-on-the-Lake is accepting clothing, toiletries, dog items (food and toys) and monetary donations for the family.The 12-year-old girl wears sizes 14-16, the 7-year-old girl wears size 5-7 and the 6-year-old boy wears size 7. The adult male wears a pant-size 32-34 and medium shirts and the adult female wears size 7-8 and medium shirts.
Donations can be dropped off at City Hall.
Donations for the victims of the Montville Township house and barn fire are being accepted in Montville and Hambden townships.
The Hambden Fire Department said that the family lost everything in the early morning fire. The department spoke to the family, who said their biggest need is currently gift cards for clothes, food and miscellaneous items.
The gift cards can be dropped off at the Montville Fire Department, 9755 Madison Road, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, or the Hambden Fire Department, 9867 Old State Road, open any day 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
